I like the specialized jargon way TVTropes uses aversion. That entertains me.
This has already been said in the journals I linked above (a month ago, when the film actually came out ...), but there's a tremendous amount of everyday-relevant widely-available Stark tech on the market in the Ultimate universe, and the films, especially this film, have been influenced so heavily by the Ultimate universe (Jackson! As! Nick! Fury!) that I fully expect to see some of that in the Iron Man sequel and/or the Avengers film. At the beginning of the Ultimate universe that brilliant douchebag Millar was writing nearly the entire thing, and this seems to me like he lifted it from The Authority, which he had a run on; the Authority are the antithesis of the superhero group that never enacts meaningful change on the setting.
Oh dear, I just remembered that Wanda and Pietro seem to be doin' it.
